For 75 Years, SME has been Where Manufacturing
Comes Together
What is SME ?
The Society of Manufacturing Engineers is dedicated to bringing people and information
together to advance manufacturing knowledge. We are internationally recognized by
manufacturing practitioners, companies and other organizations as their source for
information, education, and networking. We support manufacturers from all industries
and job functions through our events and technical and professional development
resources. A firm workforce development supporter, SME invests heavily in manufacturing
education.
Dear SME Chapter 36 Members,
Thanks to Howard Jefferson, a CIS student at DeVry University-Columbus we now have
an updated and professionally developed webpage! Howard will graduate in October
but will remain an SME member and our webmaster. Upon graduation he will be searching
for that perfect job, so keep him in mind if you have an opening in your Computer
Information Systems department!
As you browse through the pages, please note the new features we have added to the
page. You can now send us your ideas, opinions, and feedback electronically via
the webpage, or RSVP online for upcoming events. We have also included links to
important SME and other websites and feeds.
Since the beginning of this year we have had two technical presentations. We are
planning on having a few more in fall. Please let us know if you are interested
in a certain technical presentation or touring a facility. We would also love to
hear from those of you who are willing to give a technical presentation or arrange
a tour of your facility for our members.
Finally I would like to invite you to volunteer a few hours of your time per month
to our chapter. Serving as an officer is both challenging and rewarding. Please
send us an email and let us know if you are available to serve as an officer in
2009. We look forward to seeing you all this fall. We are also considering bringing
back the “Holiday Meeting and Past Chairs Night” which used to be held at Schmidt's
Sausage Haus in German Village during December. Meanwhile, have a great summer!

SME Chapter 36 Chair-Elect
